Wide eyed gazes fell upon Temple Alumnus Richard Leiby when he took to the podium at this year’s end of the year Journalism awards banquet. This much-anticipated event featured Lieby as the keynote speaker. The former Temple News editor is now currently the Style and Arts Editor for the Washington Post.  In addition he also contributes as a staff writer; here is one of his more recent pieces titled, “The rise and fall of Egypt’s most despised billionaire, Ahmed Ezz.” Lieby shared some of his more memorable journalism experiences and also offered insight on the evolving industry. Afterwards Temple Journalism faculty took center stage and presented numerous awards and scholarships to students. I was pretty thrilled to find out I was one of the recipients of this year’s  Ted Von Ziekursch scholarship. This award is one of the oldest scholarships given out and honors Ted Von Ziekursch the former editor of the Philadelphia Daily News.
