It’s scary to think but in just TWO years I’ll be a graduate from Temple University. In order to ensure I’ll have a job by then I’ve learned how important it is to start networking with professionals in the journalism industry. So with that in mind this morning I attended the NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – Mid Atlantic Chapter) annual job seminar held at CBS 3 in Philadelphia. The seminar was organized by NATAS Executive Director Tara Faccenda and featured panel speakers like Amy Burkett the Senior Vice President of Production at WLVT, and Cesar Aldama the Assistant News Director at CBS 3. Also in attendance was Fox 29’s Bruce Gordon, CBS 3’s Nicole Brewer, NBC 10’s Dan Stamm, and Drexel University’s Andrew Susskind. All the speakers stressed the importance of networking and also talked about how they got their first job in the TV world.  Amy Burkett from PBS 39 in Bethlehem  talked about every job candidate’s “P-P” or in other words their potential and passion. Everyone who attended Saturday’s seminar had a chance to showcase their “P-P” by having their resume reel critiqued by industry professionals Paul Gluck and John Barra. You can check my reel I had critiqued below. Let me know what you think!
